Healthy Beginnings Free Prenatal Class Offers Free Guidebook!Healthy Beginnings Prenatal Classes are geared to help expectant mothers and their partners prepare for their D-day – or delivery day – by providing information on the birth and care of their babies. Each participant also receives a free copy of the Healthy Beginnings pregnancy guidebook, and other resources and information about Health Unit services and programs that support healthy families.
Prenatal classes are usually led by a Family Health Nurse with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit, such as Cindy Hutchinson.
'For parents-to-be, the prenatal class is a great way to help plan for a healthy pregnancy, labour and delivery,' says Hutchinson. 'The class also covers important topics for after your baby is born – everything from care and safety, breastfeeding and adjusting to life with your newborn.'Parents-to-be are encouraged to call the Health Unit as soon as possible to secure a spot,as spaces are limited. 'The class size tends to be small and relaxed, which makes the environment great for interaction and information sharing,' she says.adding 'There is also a lot of benefit to having parents-to-be share their stories, questions and concerns. In many cases, others in the class can relate to what is being said, and they soon realize they are not alone in going through these experiences.
